Zachary, a graduate of St. Wendelin High School in Fostoria, Ohio, came to me with some pretty specific ideas on what he wanted to include in his senior portrait session. This well put together young man has two distinct passions: hunting and his cherry red GMC Sierra. He even had our locations worked out! Zach’s family has several friends with beautiful properties that we perfect for our purposes. So, on a beautifully warm autumn day, we began.
Our first outdoor location was the wooded property of one of the above-mentioned family friends. I had never been here, so was pleased to discover that the woods were not overly dense, and a lot of gorgeous natural light flowed through. There were still plenty of leaves on the trees to soften the light and give a golden glow.
We also did a short set of natural light studio portraits.
Hunting Senior Pictures
To incorporate Zachary’s passion for bow hunting, we added a hunting jacket, his bow, and a well-positioned perch for some visual interest. I drew the line, however, and loading an arrow into that bow he pointed at me!
The next property we visited had tons of photographic potential! Zachary isn’t really into horses, but the horse barn was a perfect fit for his next clothing change, and provided a bit of variety to his full session. This is one of my favorite sets!
A small stream running through the property and open fields were ideal settings for a duck hunting series of images.
Truck Senior Pictures
As the sun began to fade, we captured this fab series depicting Zach’s baby, his truck. I did have to blind him a little to take full advantage of the dramatic golden hour glow in our final series of the day, but we all agreed that it was well worth it.
