Prepare yourselves, people, because this set is going to blow you away!
Sydney, a senior at Springfield High School in Holland OH, is an amazingly dynamic, beautiful young woman with a killer sense of style, and her senior portraits completely reflect that. We ended up with an incredible number of to-die-for images in Sydney’s summer set, and then to my complete delight, her mom came back to me and asked if we could do a short studio sports session and some outdoor fall images. Well, heck yeah!
But, let’s start at the beginning. Sydney, her mom Kelly and I met for our consultation meeting before the session and decided that the best locations for the lush garden senior portraits they were looking for would be between the Toledo Botanical Gardens and Side Cut Metropark in Maumee.
Lush Senior Portraits at the Toledo Botanical Gardens
We began at the Toledo Botanical Gardens set where Sydney’s first outfit completely wowed against a wall of tall sunny flowers and greenery.
After a quick outfit change, we headed toward the Perennial Garden where the open stone walls and courtyard made a perfect backdrop for Sydney’s amazing white maxi dress. The images we created have an ethereal, classic feel to them.
Our next stop was a stand of birch trees that perfectly complemented Sydney’s pink and white outfit. Then we looped back to the Pioneer Garden to shoot some images against the Peter Navarre Pioneer Cabin. Such beautiful light and textures!
Sydney’s last outfit at the Botanical Gardens fit perfectly at the more modern looking steel arches sculpture.
Side Cut Metropark in Maumee
Our second location on this fine summer day was Side Cut Metropark in Maumee, OH. This is such an interesting and diverse location. Stretching across a wide section of the Maumee River bank, Side Cut boasts functioning remnants of the famed Erie Canal Locks, winding trails through wooded areas, open grassy hills, bridges, a lovely series of ponds where birds and other wildlife can be observed, and much more.
Our first set centered on the old canal locks, which provided a beautiful weathered stone backdrop.
Next was the grassy hill with stone stairway going up to a picnic plaza. At this point, the sky started to look threatening, but the rain held off and we got some cool cloud colors for a nice pull back shot.
For our last set at Side Cut, Sydney pulled her hair back for a different look and put on yet another adorable shorts outfit.
Studio Sports Senior Pictures
Later that fall, Sydney, her mom Kelly and best friend Lindsey arrived at the studio for a set of images featuring Syd suited up for basketball. This girl is an amazing ball handler and can palm not one, but TWO basketballs at once!
Lindsey had come along to have similar volleyball portraits done to complete her senior session, so it made perfect sense to capture these besties together in a few shots!
Autumn Senior Pictures
Sydney’s final set was at a park close to my studio where we were able to capture some beautifully lit autumn portraits. I’m so glad Syd and Kelly decided to do this add on session; what a wonderfully diverse final set!
Thank you, yet again, Sydney and Kelly for an incredible experience! I have had so much fun working with both of you. Looking forward to seeing you again when it’s time for Lexi’s senior portraits! 😉
